AZ Driver

Kobes Nurseries located in Durham region east of Oshawa has been a family owned and operated business for 55 years. Noted for its quality, service and supplying the landscape industry with ornamental nursery stock. At Kobes Nurseries we offer a challenging, fun, flexible and fast paced environment with a competitive salary and benefits package.

We are currently looking for an AZ driver to deliver nursery stock primarily in the GTA and surrounding areas from our home base in Clarington. Our drivers are home each night, have the opportunity to work outdoors and interact with a group of passionate people who love their industry.

What would your responsibilities be?

  • Deliver the nursery stock to wholesale client sites and assist with the unloading of materials. 
  • As a representative of the company, the driver will ensure all clients are treated in a highly professional manner following customer service policies, procedures and standards
  • Drivers will be required to wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the task, such as safety footwear, hard hats and reflective vests. 
  • As outlined by applicable provincial and federal regulations, the driver is responsible for vehicle inspections, a driver’s logbook, bills of lading and other daily paperwork. 
  • Report any driving infractions (tickets and charges) to the Office Manager immediately, whether personal or on company business
  • Assist when necessary in loading and securing nursery stock
  • Perform other duties as required 

These are the requirements we are looking for.

  • AZ license 
  • Clean Abstract 
  • Knuckle boom crane operator certificate (Experience preferred, but willing to train)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform physical work including, but not limited to, lifting nursery stock (50lbs), materials, tools and/or equipment and working outside in all weather conditions. 
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude. 
  • Ability to work within time constraints and manage stressful situations with a mature demeanour.
  • Mechanical and/or welding experience an asset

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with their plant requirements including pricing, sizing and answering any questions they may have
  • Assist clients in the safe and proper loading of nursery stock into their trucks
  • Provide clients with accurate quotations in a timely manner
  • Assist in the monitoring and maintaining of adequate inventory levels

Key Qualifications

  • Diploma in horticulture or equivalent experience
  • Strong customer service focused
  • Ability to perform some physical work including but not limited to lifting nursery stock
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Maintain a valid ‘G’ driver’s license
